WIP Wednesday: Seed Stitch Cowl
Written on December 25, 2013 at 6:35 pmFiled under: Knitting,Work in Progress
This Monday I casted on for another seed stitch cowl. I have 3 balls of Lion Brand Tweed Stripes in Seashell. For a 100% acrylic yarn, it’s delightfully soft and squishy. I bought it while it was on clearance/sale, and I’m quite pleased with how it’s turning out so far.
Not much of a pattern though – I cast on 55 stitches, and then it’s seed stitch every single row. I’m planning on knitting on it until I’m completely done all three balls, so it should be a decent length of a cowl that I can loop at least twice around my neck. These are being knit on 5.00mm/US 8 circulars – because I hardly ever use straights anymore.
I arrived here through a link on AllFreeCrochet (your Ruse cloche) and decided to have a look at your home page – WOW, the first post I see is this one! I’m just learning to knit (after decades of crochet and thinking I could never learn to knit ever) and am stuck on my seed stitch swatch. I’ve started-stopped and unravelled-started-stopped, etc so many times now I’ve lost count. I’m sticking with it, just cast on for another go. Really surprised at the synchronicity of being stuck on this stitch swatch and finding your latest post is about the same stitch:) One day I’ll get to a stage of wanting to use this stitch on something. I hope:)
What length is the set of circular needles you’re using for this cowl? I’m on straights as a beginner but hope to one day be up to the challenge of circular needles.
I tend to use circulars that are least 40″ in longer – I use the magic loop method when knitting in the round 🙂
Post more of your work! We’d love to see more knitting photos for Blythe dolls!
